Background & Approach
I earned my master’s degree from Western Michigan University and my undergraduate from Grand Valley State University. With over 8 years of experience in the counseling field, I’ve learned suffering is synonymous with the human experience. Therefore, I aim to walk alongside my clients with compassion and an open heart.
Being a life long learner is important to me. I’ve supplemented my traditional psychotherapy training with additional training in mind-body centered approaches, most notably, Somatic Experiencing Therapy. I also have extensive training in mindfulness, including Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction. Although I believe in letting the body lead, my origins are in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I am state certified in Trauma-Focused CBT. I do pull from this experience, interweaving wisdom from the mind, body & spirit.
My approach is both trauma informed & attachment informed. I consider relationship the greatest tool in healing, starting with the therapeutic relationship. My goal for my clients is to achieve greater connection to themselves and others.
I am passionate about working with young adults, adults (to age 65), & family units. Common areas of need include life transition support, developmental trauma & accompanying symptoms, & relationship/attachment struggles.
I hope to offer a unique space to people to learn, practice, & grow into fuller versions of themselves. I aim to bring my whole self to the therapeutic process and I hope for my clients to do the same.
